Qoya classes

Qoya is based on the idea that through movement, we remember.

We remember our essence is wise, wild and free.

Wise, wild and free also draw reference to the movement forms that we practice. Wise- the wisdom of yoga. Wild- the creative expression in dance.  Free- expanding our capacity to enjoy being in our bodies through sensual movement.  We reach out to our community, empower ourselves physically, clarify our intentions, and dance with our desires. In doing so, we activate a movement of women who connect with their essence as wise, wild, and free. We stand for the embodiment and feeling of more feminine ways of being that include but are not limited to deep transcendent love, intuition, transparency, self-expression, and radiance. We encourage one another to shine confidently as a woman who knows she is wise, wild and free.

Join us for Qoya at Four Gates Tuesdays at 7:30 and Sundays at 5pm.

Rochelle Schieck, originally from Minnesota, created Qoya (pronounced koi-ə) and taught the first class in the spring of 2009.

Each Qoya Class follows a structure. Read a detailed description of the core components, and know what to expect when you arrive.

A message from Colleen....

Over the last 4 years Qoya practice has remained one of the most important parts of my life. For me it is an experiential path that leads to profound energetic shifts and an internally validated life, and comes in the form of a ridiculously fun dance party.

My analytical skills and external experience dominated my perception until a year or so of regular Qoya classes sank in. The consistent practice of moving in a way that feels good shifted that, guided me to slow down enough to feel and experience the wisdom held in my body and follow the intuition it provides. It is the best way I have ever attempted and/or experienced the state of being present, connected to my power, and it also has influenced my life beyond words-- but I can easily provide a few examples! I very often receive clear messages in the form of physical sensations, make perfect split second decisions without a thought, and have much much less fear of the unknown.

Qoya is based on the idea that through movement, we remember. Through teaching and practicing over the last years I remember that we are all in this together, I remember the sacred nature of our existence, and I remember how much I love life.

I look forward to dancing with you soon. Please feel free to email me with any questions about Qoya classes at Four Gates.

With love,
